Since the reform and opening-up, China has persevered in its attempts to eliminate poverty and
improve people's well-being. In the past decades, hundreds of millions of Chinese have been lifted
out poverty, creating a miracle in the history of poverty reduction. We are now putting in targeted
poverty alleviation efforts with the aim of helping all the remaining rural poor out of poverty by
2020. China has made remarkable progress in poverty alleviation, and it is playing an increasingly
important role in helping the international community in the process of eradicating extreme poverty
by 2030.
