Time flies like a shuttle, and the years are like a song. The vast sky above, the expansive fields
below, all things thrive with their unique rhythms. In a quiet valley, there is an ancient
academy. Inside the academy's library, there are many rare books, each word a gem, truly
awe-inspiring.
The academy's owner is a learned scholar named Chu Qiao. He is skilled in calligraphy, especially
fond of seal script. Chu's calligraphy works often grace the covers of various books, with strokes
that are strong and vigorous, and characters that are elegant and enduring. He often says, "The
art of calligraphy lies in a peaceful mind and vivid expression."
In the academy, there is a towering ginkgo tree, several hundred years old. Every autumn, the
ginkgo tree's leaves turn golden and splendid, covering the ground like a golden carpet. Mr. Chu
often sits quietly under the ginkgo tree, holding a book and reading carefully. He believes that
reading can broaden the mind and increase knowledge.
One day, while reading under the ginkgo tree, Mr. Chu suddenly heard a series of strong, rhythmic
sounds from a distance. He put down his book and followed the sound, discovering a group of young
men practicing martial arts. These youths were all agile and quick, clearly having undergone
rigorous training.
Seeing Mr. Chu, the young men stopped their practice and respectfully saluted. Mr. Chu nodded with
a smile and asked, "What martial arts are you practicing?"
One young man replied, "We are practicing our family’s ‘Nine Revolutions Linked Palms.’ This style
emphasizes the combination of speed and strength, with each move containing profound martial
principles."
Mr. Chu nodded and said, "The way of martial arts is akin to the art of calligraphy. Practicing
martial arts requires undivided attention, focusing on every move; calligraphy requires the brush
to follow the heart, with intention preceding action. I hope you can integrate martial arts with
scholarship, becoming well-rounded individuals."
Inspired by his words, the young men promised to work hard and live up to Mr. Chu's expectations.
Time passed, and the seasons changed. Under the ginkgo tree, Mr. Chu’s figure remained. His
calligraphy became increasingly exquisite, and the academy’s collection of books grew richer.
Meanwhile, those young men gradually became martial arts masters of their generation, continuing
to carry forward their family’s martial traditions.
