01、The Dog and His Shadow
It happened that a dog had some meat that he wanted to eat at home.On his way
home he met a river.As he looked down,he saw his shadow in the water.
一只狗叼着肉打算回家去吃。在回家的路上他遇到一条河。他朝河里望去，看见水中自己
的影子。
"Just look!"said he to himself."That dog down there has some meat,too.If I could
get it away from him,I would really eat well tonight!"
“看呐！”他自言自语道。“下面那条狗也衔着肉呢。如果我把他的抢走，今晚上一定可以
美餐一顿了！”
With this thought,he made a snap at the other dog's meat.And as he did,his own meat
fell into the water.So then he had nothing at all.
这么想着，他就冲那只影子狗咬去，这时候他自己的肉掉进了水里。当然他什么也没有得到。
Then he saw that the other dog had lost his meat,too."That is as it should be!?thought
he."For I saw him trying to take my meat away from me."
然后，他看见另一只狗的肉也没了。“活该！”他想，“因为我看到他想从我这里抢走我的肉。”
By wanting to have everything,he has lost everything he had!
什么都想要，却失去了原来所拥有的！
02、A French Traveler
A Frenchman was once traveling in England.He could speak English quite well but
not perfectly.For one thing,his vocabulary was not large.
One day,he was having a meal in a small country hotel and wanted to order some
eggs.But he couldn't remember the word for eggs.
Suddenly,through the window,he saw a rooster walking in the yard,He immediately
asked the waiter what the bird was called in English.
The waiter told him that it bird was called a rooster.
The Frenchman then asken what the rooster's wife was called.
The waiter told him that she was called a hen.
The Frenchman then asked what the hen's children were called.
The waiter told him that they were chickens were called before they were born.
The waiter told him they were called eggs.
"Fine!"said the Frechman."Please bring me two eggs and a cup of coffee."
03、聪明的兔子
The wolf and the fox wanted to eat the rabbit,but it wasn't easy to catch him.
狼和狐狸想要吃掉兔子，但是这只兔子太难抓到了。
One day the wolf said to the fox,"You go home and lie in bed.I'll tell the rabbit
that you are dead.When he comes to look at you,you can jump up and catch him."That's
a good idea"said the fox.
一天，狼对狐狸说：“你回家假装躺在床上。我去告诉兔子你已经死了。当他来看你的时候，你就
可以跳起来抓住他了。”“真是个好主意！”狐狸说。
He went home at once.The wolf went to the rabbit's house and knocked at the door."Who
is it?"asked the rabbit."It's the wolf.I've come to tell you that the fox is dead."Then
the wolf went away.
于是他立刻回到家。狼去兔子的房前敲了敲门，“是谁啊？”兔子问道。“狼，我是来告诉你狐狸已
经死了。”说完狼就走开了。
The rabbit went to the fox's house.He looked in through the window and saw the fox lying
in bed with his eyes closed,He thought,Is the fox really dead or is he pretending to be
dead? If he's not dead,he'll catch me when I go near him."so he said,"The mouth of a dead
fox is always open."When the fox heard this,he thought,"I'll show him that I'm dead."So he
opened his mouth.
兔子去狐狸家看情况。他通过狐狸家的窗户看到闭着眼睛的狐狸躺在床上。他想，狐狸是真的死了，还是
在假装呢？如果他没有死，那么我走进他就会被抓住。于是他说：“狼说狐狸死了。但是他看起来并不像
死掉了呀。死去的狐狸通常都是张着嘴的。”狐狸听到这些话就想：我得证明自己是真的死了。于是他张
开了嘴巴。
The rabbit knew that the fox wasn't dead,and he ran as quickly as he could.
这时兔子知道狐狸并没有死，他就以最快的速度跑开啦。
04、The fox and crow
One day a crow stood on a branch near his nest and felt very happy with the meat in this mouth.
At that time,a fox saw the crow with the meat,so he swallowed and eagerly thought of a plan to
get the meat.However,whatever the fox said to the crow,the crow just kept silent.Until the fox
thought highly of the crow's beautiful voice,the crow felt flattered and opened his mouth to sing.
As soon as the meat fell down to the ground,the fox took the meat and went into his hole.
有一天，一只乌鸦嘴里叼着一片肉，非常高兴的站在树枝上自己的窝旁。这时候，一只狐狸看见了，馋的直流口水
，非常想得到那片肉。但是，无论狐狸说什么，乌鸦就是不理睬狐狸。最后，狐狸便赞美乌鸦的嗓音最优美，并请求
乌鸦唱几句让他欣赏。乌鸦听了狐狸的奉承话得意极了，就真的唱起歌来。没想到，它一开口肉就掉了下来，狐狸
叼起肉回了自己的洞。
