Nowadays, it is increasingly acknowledged the relationship
between medical technology and longevity.
While some people believe that it is good to extend life expectancy with medical technology,
others advocate that too longeval may cause many problems.
As far as I am concerned, the expansion of the human lifespan caused by advanced medical technology
is a curse.
It is reasonable for me to believe that extending life expectancy will put financial pressure
on the government and the medical system. If there are more and more people live longer,
it will form an aging society. Therefore, the government will not only need to build
more aged care centers but also need more carers and services.
To further support the above statement, the Japanese government's budget for aged care
has increased by 80% as its national average of life longevity increased by 2 years.
Furthermore, using technology to expand lifespan worsens the shortage of resources supply.
Specifically, since advanced technology expands human’s life,
the global population will increase dramatically,
so more resources are needed to supply the expanding global population.
This can be supported by own experience that the food supply in my home country
has fallen by 20% due to the impact of the expansion of its residents' lifespan.
In a nutshell, this controversial topic never fails to attract public attention,
we may safely conclude that it is a curse to use medical technology to extend life expectancy.
