In recent years, a wide range of museums are open to the public without charging any admission fee.
In 2008 particularly, our government also require all the museums and memorials to open for free.
This phenomenon has aroused hot discussion.
As non-profit organizations run by the government, museums play a significant role in preserving and
protecting our cultural heritage. However, before the policy concerning free entrance was carried
out, some people, low-in-come groups in particular, could not set aside money for admission.
Therefore, this policy means to attract more people to museums, which will make people more
accessible to the public knowledge and culture about their hometown and our country.
However, some people argue that free admission will undoubtedly add financial burden on museums. In
addition, the increasing number of visitors becomes a headache in light of security.
As far as I am concerned, we should take into consideration this policy's influence on developing
people's patriotism and satisfying people's spiritual demand. In spite of some drawbacks, this
policy is beneficial to the public and the next generation in the long run.
