Some people believe that focusing completely on certain field is the key to success. However, as
far as I am concerned, successful people always try to entry new fields and take risks rather than
only doing what they already know how to do well.
Firstly, trying new things allows successful people to make friend with different people.
To be more specific, entering various field and connecting with interesting and well-rounded
people from different parts of the world enable successful people to build a resource network.
As they are constructing their business, especially an international or cross-field company,
capable and helpful people who are in the network effectively improve the possibility of success.
Secondly, taking risks often discovers one's talent. How might a person be certain that he is
currently doing what is the most suitable for him? By taking risks and trying something new,
a person is able to find the field in which he would like to devote his whole life. For example,
my friend Tom was a writer before. Although high wages and status accompany his life, Tom
didn't find and passion and happiness. Once he got a chance to enter the field of marketing,
the real value of his life is discovered. Without the resolution and determination, he would
stick with writing and live a boring life.
Thirdly, trying new things provides a successful person a wide picture of the world. Nowadays,
the society tends to give a well-rounded person more chance to success. A wide picture of different
field means a broad scale of knowledge.
When a well-rounded person trying to start a business, he won't
be annoyed by keeping finding people from different
field to provide him suggestions. Furthermore, the
time that needed to discuss with others is also saved.
According to what I stated above, a person who tries new
things and taking risks is more likely to be successful.
