Recently, more and more educators and common ctizens suggest that universities and colleges should
allow students to take a longer period to graduate. Personally, I fully agree with their proposal
for the following reasons.
On the one hand, the ever-increasing pressure of study at the moment and job-hunting in the future
may hinder the efficiency of many students. If a student wants to take his time to study all the
subjects well, why don't we give him the chance? On the other hand, many students want to put theory
into practice through various methods, such as conducting social practice, traveling or joining the
army. They should be allowed to resume theil studies at their former universities when they come
back. Finally, some students are permitted to change their majors at college, and it is natural for
them to graduate later.
In a word, I warmly welcome students' staying longer in universities. In my mind, we should satisfy
the requests as long as they are reasonable.
